The 2020 Hyundai Sonata SEL Plus is a midsize sedan that feels sporty, sharp, and tech-forward but comfortably refined at the same time. It blends a turbocharged punch with upscale touches and modern convenience features, making it an engaging choice for both daily driving and longer trips.Performance & EngineUnder the hood, the SEL Plus gets a 1.6liter turbocharged GDI fourcylinder that makes 180 hp and a strong 195 lb-ft of torque.TrueCar+2nmpro.net+2That torque comes in early (starting around 1,500 rpm), giving the Sonata a lively, eager feel for passing and acceleration.Autoweb+1Power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission (with SHIFTRONIC).nmpro.netIts front-wheel drive.AutowebFuel economy is quite respectable for a turbo: 27 mpg city / 36 mpg highway / 31 mpg combined (EPA-estimated for this engine).Autoblog+1There are paddle shifters, which let you manually downshift a nice sporty touch.MotorTrend+1Design & StyleThe exterior is stylish and modern: sharp lines, a rakish profile, and a bold grille give it a refined, dynamic presence.MotorTrendInside, theres a strong design sense with a clean, layered dashboard and a tablet-style touchscreen (depending on options) that feels integrated, not just tacked-on.Motor1.comThe SEL Plus uses suede-like (Dinamica) and leatherette seating surfaces, giving the cabin a more upscale, premium feel without going full leather.Hyundai of Louisville+1You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which feels futuristic and high-tech.Lee Hyundai+1Theres wireless device charging built in, so your smartphone stays powered without fiddling with cables.Lee HyundaiIt also has a digital key you can use your smartphone to lock/unlock / start the car (depending on the setup).Lee HyundaiComfort & PracticalityThe cabin feels open and airy; reviewers note that the design gives good outward visibility, and the use of laminated glass helps keep it quiet.AutowebRear-seat passengers get their own air vents, which adds to comfort on longer rides.MotorTrendTheres an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink (to operate garage doors, etc.).Manuals+The SEL Plus trim rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a more planted, sporty look and feel.MotorTrend+1Tech & SafetyStandard infotainment includes an 8-inch touchscreen (larger screens are available via packages).AutowebApple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, so you can integrate your phone seamlessly.AIVAnetWith the optional Tech Package, you can get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Bose 12-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and even Highway Driving Assist.Autoblog+1Safety is strong: the 2020 Sonata comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and more.EdmundsThe SEL Plus adds blind-spot monitoring (via the SEL base) to its suite of active safety systems.Motor1.comDriving ExperienceWhile the 1.6T engine doesnt make massive horsepower, reviewers note that the torque curve is generous and the car feels punchy for everyday driving.Motor1.com+1The ride is tuned more for comfort than sporty razor-sharp handling: its composed, smooth, and predictable.Motor1.comThe steering is decent, but not super aggressive; it supports relaxed highway cruising and confident maneuvering rather than track-style driving.Motor1.comFuel & EfficiencyAs mentioned, around 27 / 36 / 31 mpg (city / highway / combined) is pretty solid for a turbo sedan.AutoblogThanks to the turbo and smart engine design, the Sonata SEL Plus delivers a good balance between performance and fuel saving.WardsAuto

Best 2024 Sedan
By Franklin Pina | on Friday, March 22, 2024
Purchased my 2024 Sonata in February. Looking at all of the sedan currently on the market for 2024, the Sonata was hands down the best looking for the price. Unless you're willing to shell out $40,000+ for an Audi or BMW, the Sonata takes the cake for being the best affordable sedan on the market. It out classes the Honda Accord with its interior design. As well as the Toyota Camry. I love this car and it drives just as good as it looks. The outer design is a big upgrade from the 2023 sonata's fish-mouth grill design. The Sonata drives great and is a quiet ride. Hands down the best car purchase you can make.… - 5.0
