What's New for the 2019 Chevy Equinox?

Building on the success of the previous year, the 2019 Equinox keeps drivers and passengers happy and even more entertained. New for the latest edition are two attractive new paint colors (Kinetic Blue Metallic and Pacific Blue Metallic), which brings the total options of paint colors to 14. There are also plenty of commendable interior features in the latest Equinox. Technology is prioritized in the 2019 Equinox, which has a nod-worthy interior that includes a color infotainment screen, app connectivity, and plenty of storage space for electronics and personal items like sunglasses.

The standard size for the infotainment display screen is seven inches, but drivers can choose to upgrade to a larger eight-inch screen if they so choose. Navigation remains optional in the 2019 Equinox, as does XM satellite radio. Customers wanting a better sound system can upgrade to a Bose sound system with seven speakers. Another nice available feature is a WiFi hotspot, which provides the freedom of working or using the internet on the road. A standard safety package in the 2019 Equinox includes forward collision warning, lane-keep assistance, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking at lower speeds.

What Trims and Tech Features are Available?

Four trim levels are available for the latest Equinox. The base model, which is called the L, has plenty of standard amenities to look forward to. Standard on the L is a USB port that makes it easy to power electronics when you're not at home. The charging port is conveniently located in the center console, which keeps electronics in a safe space and frees up room around the cabin. Also standard on the base model are 17-inch wheels and a seven-inch infotainment touch screen.

From the center screen, drivers and passengers can use Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, OnStar, and the radio. Heated and adjustable side mirrors are another standard feature on this vehicle. The LS and LT, which are the second and third highest trim levels, add two USB ports. A backup camera is an optional safety feature in both models. Moving up, the highest trim level is the Premier.

The Premier upgrades the infotainment screen to an eight-inch display rather than a seven-inch screen. The infotainment system in the Premier also has a voice recognition system, and it offers plenty of app connectivity. This trim has 19-inch wheels, LED lights, and heated front seats too.

Under the Hood of the 2019 Chevy Equinox

2019 GMC Acadia The Chevy Equinox is powered by several different engines. The standard base engine is a 1.5L, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces up to 170 HP. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 1.6L turbocharged diesel engine available in the base model. This engine produces up to 137 HP and 240 LB-FT of torque. A more powerful 2.0L, four-cylinder engine, which generates a maximum of 252 HP, powers the higher level trims. Both the diesel engine and the 2.0L engine are paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels, and all-wheel drive is optional.

The SUV's safety technology for this year includes automatic emergency braking at speeds of 25 MPH and under. There is also a forward collision detection and avoidance system. The safety package includes lane-keep assistance and lane-departure avoidance. Blind-spot monitoring is also part of the safety package, as is rear cross-traffic alert.

OnStar can be added to the safety package, as can a panoramic backup camera. A rear seat reminder, which reminds drivers to buckle their kids up before leaving, is another optional feature. Families with teen drivers can also choose to get a Teen Driver package, which can be installed to help parents record and monitor their children's driving habits. The Teen Driver package also prevents certain safety systems from being turned off, which lets parents know that their children are safer on the road.
