Chevrolet Awarded $165,000 in Scholarships to 2022 HBCU Marketing and Journalism Interns  
 

Chevy recently announced the recipients of its Discover the Unexpected scholarship. They awarded 11 HBCU students with a total of $165,000 in scholarships. The Discover the Unexpected program is a 10-week internship. It is designed to give HBCU students experience in automotive media and journalism. The program is beneficial for students. This year's scholarship recipients will be entering junior roles related to those industries. The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate passion. They also have shown exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential.

This group of students included five working in the media department. It also included six students that had journalism roles at the NNPA. The experience has been enlightening for all. Each student had a unique opportunity to learn about both businesses. For the students, this experience has been a chance to gain first-hand experience. They have been able to work with the media department on several projects. They range from developing social media campaigns to producing videos. They have also had the opportunity to learn about the publishing industry. The students worked with the editorial staff of NNPA newspapers. It included researching and writing articles and working on layout and design.

Chevy Supports HBCU Interns

Interns at General Motors created engaging content. It was about the Chevy Bolt EUV, electrification, and EV adoption.

The students at the NNPA worked to bridge the gap. They want to unite new-age and traditional journalism.

Chevrolet honors its partnership with the NNPA. It provides HBCU students with opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

The fellows had a significant impact on the Chevy Marketing team. They learned about different aspects of the business. They also built relationships with their mentors and navigated new experiences.

The final day began with students sharing the work they did. They had researched electric vehicles and contacted local businesses and organizations. They also created proposals for how electric vehicles could benefit their communities. The group worked on a presentation for a large corporation. They also created a virtual work environment for electric vehicles. Both presentations were well executed. The students showed a great level of professionalism and passion.
