The Corvette is an American performance icon. Chevrolet has been constantly improving this classic since 1953. The latest ZR1 is truly an American Super Car. The ZR1 is powered by a 6.2 Liter aluminum-block V8 boosted by an Eaton TVS (Twin Vortices Series) supercharger for a total power output of 638 HP at 6500 rpm and 604 lb.-ft of torque at 3800 rpm. It is the most powerful   motor ever to occupy the engine bay of a General Motors production car.

The base Corvette LS3 V8 engine is no slouch either! The standard 6.2 Liter LS3 V8 engine produces an SAE-certified 430 horsepower at 5900 rpm and 424 lb.-ft of torque at 4600 rpm. Power output is even higher with the optional dual-mode exhaust system with 436 hp at 5900 rpm and 428 lb.-ft of torque at 4600 rpm. Yet the engine achieves a remarkable EPA estimated 26 MPG highway with the standard six-speed manual transmission. Even with its impressive performance, the engine does not incur a federal government gas-guzzler penalty.

Between the base LS3 engine and the beastly ZR1 is the LS7 found in the Z06 Corvette. The LS7 is an aluminum-block 7.0 Liter V8 that produces a SAE-certified 505 hp and 470 lb.-ft of torque. Hand assembled at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI, the LS7 engine contains a litany of racing-derived components, such as a 10.5 quart dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods, forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt main bearings, high -profile cam, and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machined heads for better air and fuel flow. Z06 offers an EPA estimated 24 MPG highway. Even with its impressive performance, the engine does not incur a federal government gas-guzzler penalty.
